Jurnal Keperawatan Bunda Delima (JKBD), published by Akademi Keperawatan Bunda Delima, is committed to maintaining high ethical standards in nursing, healthcare, and related health sciences research.

All research submitted to JKBD must comply with applicable institutional, national, and international ethical standards, including the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki and the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

The journal prioritizes the protection of research participants' rights, dignity, safety, privacy, and confidentiality.

2. Ethical Approval

Research involving human participants must obtain approval from an authorized Research Ethics Committee or Institutional Review Board (IRB) when required by applicable regulations.

Authors must clearly state the ethical approval information in their manuscripts, including:

  1. Name of the approving ethics committee.

  2. Ethical approval number, where applicable.

  3. Date of approval, when available.

  4. Information regarding an exemption or waiver, if applicable.

Research ethics approval must be obtained before the commencement of research activities requiring such approval.

JKBD reserves the right to request supporting ethical approval documentation during manuscript evaluation or after publication.

3. Informed Consent

Authors must obtain appropriate informed consent from research participants before participation whenever required.

Informed consent should be obtained voluntarily after participants receive sufficient information regarding:

  1. The purpose and procedures of the research.

  2. Potential risks and anticipated benefits.

  3. Voluntary participation and the right to withdraw, subject to applicable research procedures.

  4. Protection of personal information and research data.

  5. The intended use of collected information.

Informed consent should be documented appropriately in accordance with applicable ethical requirements.

If informed consent has been waived by an authorized ethics committee, the manuscript must clearly explain the waiver.

4. Protection of Vulnerable Participants

Research involving vulnerable individuals, including children, older adults with impaired decision-making capacity, patients with cognitive impairments, or individuals in dependent relationships, requires appropriate ethical safeguards.

Authors must ensure that:

  1. Participation is voluntary and free from coercion.

  2. Consent is obtained from legally authorized representatives when required.

  3. Participant assent is obtained when appropriate.

  4. Additional measures are implemented to protect participants' safety, dignity, and welfare.

5. Privacy and Confidentiality

Authors must protect the privacy and confidentiality of all research participants.

Personal identifiers, patient records, clinical photographs, and other sensitive information must not be disclosed without appropriate authorization.

Research data should be anonymized or de-identified whenever feasible.

Identifiable patient information may be published only when scientifically justified and supported by appropriate written consent for publication.

6. Consent for Publication

For case reports, clinical photographs, or other materials containing potentially identifiable patient information, authors must obtain explicit informed consent for publication when required.

Consent for participation in research does not automatically constitute consent for publication of identifiable personal information.

Authors must ensure that patients or their legally authorized representatives understand the potential public accessibility of published materials.

7. Research Involving Animals

Research involving animals must comply with applicable institutional and national animal welfare regulations.

Authors must obtain appropriate ethical approval when required and describe the measures taken to minimize animal suffering.

The manuscript should identify the relevant ethical approval or animal care oversight arrangements.

8. Research Integrity and Data Accuracy

Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, originality, and integrity of research findings.

JKBD prohibits:

  1. Data fabrication and falsification.

  2. Plagiarism and duplicate publication.

  3. Misrepresentation of ethical approval or informed consent.

  4. Unauthorized disclosure of confidential participant information.

JKBD may request ethical approval certificates, informed consent documentation, or other relevant materials to assess compliance with research ethics requirements.

Manuscripts that fail to meet applicable ethical standards may be rejected or returned for clarification.

For published articles, substantiated ethical violations may result in corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions in accordance with the journal's Correction and Retraction Policy.

All allegations will be evaluated objectively and fairly, following relevant COPE recommendations.
